Choir Director
Nicholas Renaud is passionate about teaching and working with others toward musical growth and fun performances. Nicholas has taught and conducted many choral and instrumental ensembles, from beginner bands to university-level choirs. He has also sung professionally in many ensembles and as a soloist. For the past six years, Nicholas has taught in the public school system where he has worked with concert and jazz bands of all ages, high school choirs and vocal jazz ensembles.
Nicholas Renaud est passionné par l'enseignement et la collaboration avec d'autres vers une croissance musicale et des performances agréables. Nicholas a enseigné et dirigé de nombreux ensembles choraux et instrumentaux, tels que les groupes de débutants et des chorales de niveau universitaire. Il a également chanté professionnellement dans de nombreux ensembles et en tant que soliste. Au cours des six dernières années, Nicholas a enseigné dans le système scolaire public où il a travaillé avec des orchestres de concert et de jazz de tous âges, des chœurs au secondaire et dans la communauté et des ensembles de jazz vocal au secondaire.

DMA in Choral Conducting University of Washington
Nicholas is pursuing his DMA in Choral Conducting at the University of Washington under the supervision of Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Dr. Giselle Wyers.
Bachelor of Education University of British Columbia
He earned his Bachelor of Education specializing in Secondary Music and French at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada) where he received the prestigious Outstanding Practicum Award.
Bachelor of Music University of Victoria
Nicholas graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria (Victoria, BC) where he double majored in Secondary Instrumental Music Education and Voice Studies (and a minor in French); while at UVic, Nicholas was Assistant Director of the UVic Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the UVic Chamber Singers. In addition to his duties as a high school teacher in recent years, Nicholas has served as Director of Vox Maris Tenor-Bass Choir (Abbotsford, BC), Assistant Director of Joy Vox Community Choir (Abbotsford, BC), Artistic Director of the Fraser Valley Community Winds (Abbotsford, BC) and as the 2018 Intern Conductor of the BC Youth Choir, where he was honoured to work under the tutelage of esteemed Canadian choral conductor, Allison Girvan. In 2023, he was chosen as one of a handful of choral conductors to attend the Cascade Choral Conducting Masterclass in Tacoma, WA, where he had the pleasure of conducting the first two movements of the Fauré Requiem with choir and orchestra in concert.
Master of Education Simon Fraser University
Nicholas has recently completed his Master of Education at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC), where his research focused on leadership, inclusion, and decolonization in the classroom. He is devoted to building community and cooperation through the study of music, engaging in innovative teaching that involves a variety of approaches and activities to foster teamwork. Nicholas works hard to empower others to develop confidence as they learn to express their creativity through group music-making and engaging musical performances.

Nicholas poursuit son doctorat en musique (DMA), en direction chorale, à l’Université de Washington sous la supervision de Dr Geoffrey Boers et Dre Giselle Wyers. Il a obtenu un bac en éducation (B.Ed.) spécialisé en musique et en français dans le secondaire à l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique (UBC), où il a reçu le prestigieux Outstanding Practicum Award. Nicholas a obtenu un bac en musique (B.Mus.) à l’Université de Victoria (Canada), où il a suivi une double majeure en éducation musicale instrumentale secondaire et en études vocales ainsi qu’une mineure en Français. Pendant ses études à l’université de Victoria, Nicholas a été directeur adjoint de l’UVic Vocal Jazz Ensemble et des UVic Chamber Singers. Ces dernières années, en plus de ses fonctions d’enseignant au secondaire, Nicholas a été directeur du Vox Maris Tenor-Bass Choir (Abbotsford, C.-B.), directeur adjoint du Joy Vox Community Choir (Abbotsford, C.-B.), directeur artistique du Fraser Valley Community Winds (Abbotsford, C.-B.) et directeur adjoint du BC Youth Choir en 2018, où il a eu l’honneur de travailler sous la tutelle d’Allison Girvan, cheffe de chœur canadienne très estimée. En 2023, il a été choisi parmi une poignée de chefs de chœur pour participer au Cascade Choral Conducting Masterclass à Tacoma (WA), où il a eu le plaisir de diriger les deux premiers mouvements du Requiem de Fauré avec chœur et orchestre en concert.
Nicholas a récemment terminé sa maitrise en éducation (M.Ed.) à l’Université Simon Fraser (Burnaby, Canada), où ses recherches ont porté sur le leadership, l’inclusion et la décolonisation dans la salle de classe. Il se consacre à la construction de la communauté et de la coopération à travers l’étude de la musique, en s’engageant dans un enseignement innovant qui implique une variété d’approches et d’activités pour favoriser le travail d’équipe. Nicholas s’efforce de donner aux autres la possibilité d’acquérir de la confiance en eux en leur apprenant à exprimer leur créativité en faisant de la musique en groupe.
